Aya Kusumoto
Aya Kusumoto spent her first year of college at Otis College of Art and Design, and graduated with a BFA in fashion design at California College of the Arts based in San Francisco, California. Her main area of interest is in designing sustainable clothing and sourcing/creating new sustainable materials whether they be natural or manmade. She grew up in the Bay Area which has influenced her design process through merging science with design. She believes that materials should lead design so that she is challenged to make products in new ways that consider sustainability and the roots from which it is made. Aya takes into consideration the full lifecycle of a product from raw material to how it ends up back in the earth or in a new product through closed loop systems.
